NDI™ for Beginners - Live w/ Will Waters of NewTek™

In this live broadcast, Tess Protesto hosts a show ideal for beginners learning about the NewTek™ NDI™. Will Waters, Director of Product Marketing & Sales Enablement for NewTek™ shares insights about NDI and the future of video production in an IP world. He takes us into the new craze of NDI, what it's all about, IP video production, the future of live streaming, and more.

Before Tess's interview the Will Waters, PTZOptics announced the 2017 Streaming Awards which will start June 30th, 2017. The prizes and sponsors for this show include: PTZOptics, Osprety Video, MimoLive, xKeys and NewTek. Tess also updates us on some recent news regarding the PTZ Producer kits which now include direct NewTek NDI integration with the NewTek Connect Pro App.

Will helps explain the NewTek NDI and IP based video production workflows to Tess who is just learning about live streaming. Will helps us step back and look at the history of television and broadcast technologies to explain the transitions we are seeing today in regards to the cloud and IP. As Will explains, NewTek has announced the NDI technology (Network Device Interface) in 2015 at the IBC (International Broadcast Convention) in Amsterdam. Now here we are in 2017, two full years later with thousands of case studies and developers working with the protocol to deliver low-latency high quality video for live broadcast.

Will Waters shares with us the NewTek vision for IP based video production and the motto for the company. NewTek has always said that "in the future your favorite show will be produced by someone you actually know." As you can learn in the video and live broadcast, Waters explains how accessing low-latency, video of a network connection allows for vastly improved use-case scenarios versus traditional point to point HD-SDI and HDMI video connections.

Of course, we had to mention the new TriCaster TC1 which is a 16 input video switcher with built-in NDI technology. For many, the TriCaster is a staple of video production quality and a standard in the industry. The TC1 represents one of the best quality integrations with the NDI allows video sources to be switched, mixed and produced for almost every variety of scenario. The video walks us through the TriCaster control surface and PTZOptics PTZ camera control integration options. You can control the PTZOptics cameras via the NewTek TriCaster TC1 via RS-232 or IP over the network using the static IP address.
